2012… Where it all began!

Well 2012 has been an exciting year for us, mainly as it’s been our first official year as Zenzero Events! As I said in the last blog post we have had some really exciting adventures over the last 10 months since our official inception in February.

The first few events of our year followed Glitter and Glamor and Hollywood theme so TDH News and our Hollywood Human Statues joined us on these outings.

Human Statues entertained guests at Southern Centre RTS Awards in February…

I then spent the rest of March, April and May finishing off my degree (!) in Street Arts (BA Hons) at The University of Winchester before Zenzero Events made some appearances over the summer…

TDH (Tom, Dick and Harry!!) News were a lively and charming welcome for guests at The Glitter Glamor Ball for A Better Life and reappeared again in June at Tenterden Rotary Club’s Ladies’ Evening…

Tentertainment returned to Tenterden on the weekend of the 30th June and we were really pleased to be asked to provide walkabout entertainment for the weekend long family festival. This was a great opportunity for us to showcase this kind of entertainment in a festival environment. Please see our testimonials page for Jo’s lovely comments about the services we provided.

Zenzero Events’ stilt walkers helped the organisers with collections which will contribute to Tentertainment 2013 and the Riddling Jugglers entertained smaller groups of the public…

The fabulous Emma Nias from Well Red Comedy Company brought two of hers acts; Madame Heather the Misfortune Teller gave individual comedy readings to her intimate audiences and Sybil The World’s Last Singing Siren was a big hit with the kids, particularly with the little girls! My own act, The Black Swan, also made an appearance.

The NHS Southern Health Foundation Trust Gala Ball was a fantastic opportunity for Emma (Well Red Comedy Company) and I to collaborate and create some new characters, and so the Living Guest Book and Mobile Photo Booth emerged in July!! These two characters have been designed to break the ice at any event and get people talking to one another. They are an adaptation of the popular photo booth and a twist on the traditional guest book. Magic Dan provided guests with fab close up magic and The Butlers welcomed guests on their entrance and danced into the night on the dance floor!

The Summer was busy for myself as I was performing with Hotch Potch Performance at two French Street Arts Festivals, The Hat Fair, Boomtown Fair and at several times in The Olympic Village during the Olympics.

Zenzero Events’ summer was finished off with an appearance from The Black Swan and Magic Dan at a CSV event for children in Maidstone.

October saw The Ringleader and Popcorn Lady make their debut appearances. The first appearance was at The Dulwich Arts Week Creative Dance Company end of week performance. The company then held a Photo Shoot at The House Meadow with the awesome Stafford McLaughlin of Red Book Photography.

Our lovely aerial artist, Becki, had to brave the cold weather in between shots. She is wearing a lovely creation by Sarah at Kooky, I normally like to design and make all of our costumes but for this I needed the help from someone specialist and she did a fabulous job creating this costume.

A couple of fab group shots from the day :) Thanks to Clare Passmore at The House Meadow for letting us use her fab venue and helping out with the shoot, her help was invaluable! Also thanks to Megan Marks for hair and makeup.

In November we were incredibly privileged to exhibit at The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza (EWE) at Fazeley Studios in Birmingham. It was a really great alternative to the standard or traditional Wedding Shows or Fayres you normally see; full of quirky suppliers and awesome couples with great ideas and plans for fun, unique and fabulous weddings. The show is invite only for suppliers and I am so pleased to say we have been asked back to exhibit at the next one on 24th March 2013… Put the date in your diary and pop along to see us!!

Here are some photos of our performers from the very first Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza…

After EWE and the photo shoot I had lots of ideas about new characters and costumes so I decided to create The Mad Hatter stilt walker! This is something I’d wanted to do for a while (I’d love to add the white rabbit on spring loaded stilts soon!!!), so I popped along to The Wealden Fair at the end of November and came home with a few bits to start me off (see the previous blog for more details about the costume). The Mad Hatter had its first outing at Tenterden Late Night Shopping on Friday 7th December. Zenzero Events were asked to help promote the open evening The Tenterden Club were holding. They had tables decorated as they would be for weddings and parties, jewelry, art work and crafts for sale and yummy food from Food Fairies (the sausage rolls really were to die for!).

Since our official inception we have launched our website to a great reception and continue to make changes and update the site regularly. There is information on the website about our most popular acts, photos from previous events, testimonials for clients and of course the blog you are reading now!! We have also joined twitter and facebook, both have made it to 100 likes and 99 followers in twitter (nearly there!!) which I’m so pleased about :)

Quite a lot of Zenzero Events’ performers are artists that I know, performers who I have trained with or worked with, they really are fabulous and I couldn’t do it without them. I have also met a great bunch of new performers this year, some of who I am still looking forward to working with. Zenzero wouldn’t work without all of them and I am incredibly lucky to have found so many great performers, all with brilliant work ethics.

So this first year for us has been a very exciting one and I am so grateful to all of you who have supported me in one way or another as it wouldn’t be possible without you! Next year we already have a range of bookings in place and LOTS of ideas for new characters and costumes! We will also be venturing into the world of Murder Mysteries… more details will be released in the new year.

As always you can follow me on twitter or like us on facebook, I also email those of who are interested with regular updates and tips so please subscribe here if you are interested in being kept up to date.

Thanks again for reading and please keep checking back to see what we’re doing. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any suggestions or questions and please feel free to comment and share with your friends :)
