March 2012 – heat wave…. March 2013 – snow?!
Coming up from Kent we had been hearing horror stories of the weather conditions from the Midlands and upwards. Being a Street Performer I tend to have a volatile and rocky relationship with the weather, I have previously refused to let weather conditions affect performances, celebrations and any other event it decides to try and ruin. With this in mind Saturday 23rd March we packed up the car, picked up performers from various locations and prayed the trains were still running for the others! We arrived in a very snowy and cold Birmingham and although it does tend to get in they way of plans and crush the transport system I have to say I am still complete sucker for the snow!
This time round we brought back the Mobile Photo Booth but we also brought her friend The Living Guest Book. Joining them was a human statue and The Mad Hatter on stilts!
Now I have to say the turn out really reflected just how unique and fabulous this wedding fair is. In fact I’m not sure you can call it a wedding fair; there are no white linen covered trestle tables, no frosty suppliers pushing for bookings and every bride we met had so many brilliant ideas for their day. What other wedding fair has a treasure hunt and a fashion walkabout?! Extravaganza is the best way to describe the event, a celebration of wonderful suppliers which I’m so pleased to be one of again after having such a wonderful time at the first back in November.
Thanks to Jay, it was lovely to see you again and thank you for encouraging us to move our stand into the light and for your gorgeous photos as usual!
This time round out neighbors were Prior Engagement. Prior Engagement specialises in stunning bespoke wedding gowns, either historically correct, or historically inspired.
The cafe was once again transformed by the wonderful Ava Event Styling. So much colour and creativity their work is simply stunning!
When I came across Kitchen Conjurer I have to say I was gobsmacked! A chocolate and marzipan cake made to look like a roast chicken… yes you read that right!! AMAZING!!
Gramaphone DJs how cool is that?! Already booked for Bestival and Camp Bestival… is this going to be the next big thing in the music, festival and wedding industries?
Everyone was treated to a fashion show walkabout, we tried to grab our lunch during the show but just couldn’t keep our eyes off all the incredible dress designs…

The venue Fazeley studios as usual didn’t fail to impress the brides and grooms to be and their courtyard was covered in a thick layer of snow making it even prettier than usual
The feedback our guest book got was lovely and we have passed on all comments
Before the event the organisers Vikki, Jo and Sassy in their press release called out to all “gamers, goths, geeks, rockabillies, psychobillies, off the walls, mods and rockers, steampunks, new punks, old punks, flappers, happy clappers, hipsters and hell-raisers, bohemians, folks who are inked and pinked or if EWE just want YOU to shine through”… Its looks like they all heard and responded as we met a whole range of amazing brides to be who have filled us with ideas and excitement for future weddings and events! See EWE all next time
